Hello! I'm Shannon (she/her), a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#86366) passionate and enthusiastic about helping people. I received my Bachelors of Arts Degree in Psychology from Chapman University. After graduating college and working in property management as a customer service specialist, I decided to go back to school and received my Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from the California School of Professional Psychology (Alliant International University). I'm also a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT).
Through integrative practices I help clients create more understanding and compassion towards themselves while learning more effective ways of getting through life's hardships. I utilize Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with a Humanistic approach to work towards attainable and realistic goals while managing unwanted behaviors. Additionally we'll explore parts of the past which may be effecting the present.
As clients share their story they can recognize patterns and potential areas of growth, acceptance, and change.
I value your uniqueness and honor wherever you are in your journey. I strive to foster a strong therapeutic relationship by creating an open and safe space filled with empathy, warmth, information and support. Humor and laughter are encouraged and important reminders of how not take yourself too seriously as we navigate what it truly means to be human. Therapy can be awkward and together through thoughtful conversations we tap into and gain an opportunity to embrace our humanity.
I've been lucky enough to work extensively with clients from diverse backgrounds and throughout many different stages of life. I specialize in anxiety disorders, life transitions, overwhelm, grief, relationship issues and substance abuse/addiction.
I'm currently accepting new clients in private practice in California and Nevada as well as being a Lyra Health Provider.
